YES.   lubiqate slider mighty hard.  anything that you can see.  Everything, anything, do not be bashfull.  White litumigrease, Purple muliti loube.  Paper Towels before.  Put on some rubber gloves like it was your mast tomorrow.  Again, 
DO NOT be shy with grease, what can it hurt?  The metal surfaces love grease, they do.
