I need some creative ideas. 

        My 84 came with a luggage rack on the pop top at the rear.  There is also a latter mounted to reach it. 

        I never would have done this, but now that it is there it is very handy. 
        The problem is  the wrack is just tall enough to keep me from being able to get the van in the garage.  Getting it in makes it possible to do winter projects.

        I usually get it in by lowering the air pressure and getting about 15 neighbors and two dogs packed in to drop it down.  And then do that again in ghetto spring. 

I’d like to find a way to make the rack removable and yet keep the roof water proof. 

Currently the rack is bolted down directly through the pop top with a nut on the inside and a flat screw at the top outside.  And, it is calked in. 

I thought about using a nutcert but don’t know about using on fiber glass.  Also that would stick up a bit on the outside and the roof rack foot is flat on the roof. 

I thought about making a rubber foot that fits around the nut cert. 

But, this list is full of creative people.  What might I use to created a removable fastener that would allow one person from the top to remove and install the roof rack and have it be reasonably water tight?
