Hi listers,

        I changed my shocks on my 85 around 2013. 

        I got lots of list help, and I successfully changed both rear and front solo. 

I tried to find those emails in my folder, but must not have been organized back then.  

So, I’d love to have those instructions back for rear and front. 

In the meantime I’ll start with the rear shocks on my 84. 

My questions for the list is any tips or steps in the process? 

I remember jacking up the van, having the wheel at full extension and the wheel supported.  I don’t think I removed the wheel.  

Rear was simply unbolt drop out shock, and bolt in the new one then remove tire shim and lower van.  What am I forgetting?

And does anyone know the torque on the upper and lower bolts? 

I plan to do this job solo.  

Any tips appreciated. 

My work on the other van has held up a decade so I want to get more list credit and get another solo vanagon job done.
