Hmmm..... .  Alistair, your method would probably work where you are on
Vancouver Island, and in other parts of the PNW.  Some Vanagon owners live
in much drier climates, and the upper soil is dry as dust for a good part
of the year, unless irrigated.  But of course, one could soak the soil with
water before putting the card down. mcneely
