There is a very quiet little tranny shop very near here - Birmingham -
Phillip Frost Transmissions - phone 205-681-5181.
Takes in trannies from 5 surrounding states. He goes way back. He doesn't
specialize in VW'S Particularly but sure knows what he is doing. He
personally rebuilt a manual and an auto tranny in my Vanagons. He had them
out of the vehicles, on the bench, and back in the vans in a day. The
really great part was I was invited to stand on the other side of the
bench and watch him work.
