        Thank you for the follow up and resolution.

        Sadly, I’m all two familiar with this type of repair.  Well, actually, I’ve been pretty lucky so far, but as a blind person doing vanagon care the chance of a self inflicted wound is high. 

        Yesterday I decided to tighten my power steering belt.  By touch it was hard to figure out what bolts were involved.   Finally I gave in and called a friend who described not only the pivot bolt and the one on the bracket where it slides, but also one more so the slotted bracket can also move.  Still as I worked I was nervous about bumping something not related to the task.  

        In this case all went well and all seems good.

But, like you, let’s see how I did down the road! 

Nice work figuring it out and now you have all back in order and an oil cooler as well!
