Jeff,

I assume you are going to media blast before paint? If so, I will caution you to COVER everything!
I had blast media make it into the bell housing, then to my rear main seal...

Also, I did what you are planning, replaced nearly all the bad metal I could get panels for.

We pulled ALL the window glass as well, and despite that effort, 10 years later I did have a few spots of rust come through around the window above the sink-cabinet (outside of course)

Lastly, make sure the painter uses a good epoxy enamel primer, to seal the metal, before base coat and top coat.
For the base coat we used PPG Deltron 2000/DBC.

Hope this helps!

Jack

Subject: Getting ready to paint

Hi everyone. Sometime soon I will hopefully be painting my 85 Westfalia. Does anyone have a list of parts I would need - trim, gaskets, etc.

Also wondering if I should order every sheet metal panel I can find … things get rusty up here.

Thanks
Jeff
