Right....oven bake may not be a wise idea.  Maybe just let the paints do their thing, like 24 hours at room temp.  I've got the time.  Also....kinda thinking several coats of quality Carnuba Wax on handles before re-attaching to Vanagon would not be a bad thing.  Helps reduce surface friction from hands...makes things kind of glide over.  Man....I sure wonder how VW did this originally?  Result was excellent.

I'd think the chemical in the paint evaporates with the heat thus the paint
is not as strong as it means to.
